What to Expect on Your Fall Farm Tour

Our Fall Farm Tour is designed to give you a true taste of autumn at Crosscut Farm & Orchard. Over the course of two hours, you'll move through several stations led by our knowledgeable farm staff. The tour begins with a warm welcome and a brief overview of the day's itinerary. From there, you'll head to the cider pressing area, where you'll watch fresh apples being transformed into sweet, golden cider right before your eyes. The demonstration is interactive—we encourage questions and, when possible, a little hands-on participation for those who want to try their hand at the press.

After the cider pressing, we'll take a short walk through part of the orchard. Here you'll learn about the history of apple farming in our region, the varieties we grow, and what it takes to keep our trees healthy throughout the year. The tour is relaxed and family-friendly, with plenty of time to stop for photos or simply enjoy the crisp fall air. You'll end at our designated picnic area, where you can enjoy your own snacks or purchase additional treats from the farm stand. Please note that while the tour includes the cider demonstration and orchard walk, apple picking is a separate activity that can be arranged on-site.

Planning Your Visit

To make the most of your Fall Farm Tour, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes before your scheduled start time. This allows you to park, check in, and get settled before the tour begins. Our check-in process is quick and simple: just show your order confirmation number from Ecwid to the staff member at the entrance. No paper tickets are needed. If you have any trouble locating your confirmation, please check your email inbox or spam folder before contacting us.

Dress for the weather and wear comfortable walking shoes, as parts of the tour take place on uneven ground and grassy paths. Layers are a good idea, since temperatures can vary throughout the afternoon. If rain is in the forecast, bring a light raincoat or umbrella—tours run rain or shine unless severe weather is expected. Strollers and wagons are welcome, but please keep in mind that some areas may be muddy after rain.

U-Pick Reservations and Apple Picking

While your Fall Farm Tour ticket does not include apple picking, you can easily add a U-pick experience on the day of your visit. U-pick bags are available for purchase at the farm stand for $20 per half peck. You may pay with cash or credit card. Availability of U-pick apples depends on the season and weather conditions, so we recommend checking with our staff upon arrival. If you'd like to guarantee a U-pick bag in advance, please visit our October 1st U-pick and Demo 1 PM -3PM or October 1st U-pick and Demo 3 PM -5PM pages for combined tour and picking options.

For those who prefer a purely picking-focused outing, we offer dedicated U-pick sessions on select dates. These sessions allow you to spend more time in the orchard and less time on the educational tour. However, if you're interested in learning about cider making and apple farming while still getting a chance to pick, the Fall Farm Tour is an excellent choice. Just remember to budget extra time after the tour if you plan to pick apples.
