What to Expect During Your Fall Farm Tour

Your two-hour visit is designed to be relaxed, educational, and full of the sights, sounds, and smells of autumn on a working orchard. The tour begins with a warm welcome from our farm team, who will check you in and orient you to the property. From there, you’ll be guided through a series of hands-on and demonstration-based experiences that bring the apple harvest to life. Because this is a working farm, the exact route may shift slightly depending on the day’s activities, but you can always count on three core elements: the apple cider pressing demonstration, a short introduction to apple farming, and time to enjoy our picnic site at your own pace.

The cider pressing demonstration is a favorite for all ages. You’ll see how fresh apples are transformed into sweet, unfiltered cider using a traditional press. Our staff will explain the process step by step, from washing and grinding the fruit to pressing and bottling the juice. You’ll learn why certain apple varieties are better for cider than others, how the pressing season unfolds, and what makes farm-fresh cider taste so different from what you find on grocery store shelves. While samples are not guaranteed, the aroma alone is worth the visit.

The introduction to apple farming is a short, engaging talk that covers the basics of how apples are grown, harvested, and cared for throughout the year. You’ll hear about the challenges of weather, pests, and pruning, and how our farm manages the orchard sustainably. The talk is designed for a general audience, so no prior knowledge is needed, and there will be plenty of time for questions. Kids and adults alike often leave with a new appreciation for the work that goes into every crisp bite.

After the guided portions, you’re free to relax at our picnic site. Bring your own blanket or use one of our picnic tables, and enjoy the fresh air and orchard views. This is also a great time to purchase apple picking if you’d like to extend your visit. U-pick bags are available on site for $20 per half peck, and you can pay with cash or credit card. Please note that apple picking is not included in your tour fee, but it’s a wonderful add-on if the trees are ready and you want to take home a taste of the farm.

Planning Your Visit: Arrival, Parking, and Check-In

To make the most of your reservation, we ask that all guests arrive and be parked at least 10 minutes before the tour start time. This allows us to check everyone in efficiently and begin the tour promptly at 3 pm. Late arrivals may miss part of the guided experience, and because tours are scheduled back-to-back, we are unable to delay the start for individual guests. Please plan your drive accordingly, especially on weekends when local traffic can be heavier.

Parking is available on the farm property, and our team will direct you to the designated area when you arrive. The parking area is a short walk from the check-in point, so comfortable walking shoes are recommended. The terrain is mostly flat but can be uneven in places, especially after rain. If you have mobility concerns, please let us know at check-in and we will do our best to accommodate you.

At check-in, you’ll need to show your proof of purchase. This is the order confirmation email you received from Ecwid after booking. No paper tickets are sent, so simply have the email open on your phone or printed out. The order number is all we need to verify your reservation. Please double-check that the email address you used at checkout is correct, as this is the only way we can send your confirmation. If you don’t see the email, check your spam or promotions folder before contacting us.

Because all sales are final and no refunds or date/time transfers are allowed, we encourage you to review your schedule carefully before booking. If you have a conflict, you are welcome to give your reservation to a friend or family member, but we cannot change the date or time. This policy helps us keep tour groups small and ensures that every guest has a quality experience.

Who Should Attend: Age Guidelines and Group Information

Our Fall Farm Tour is designed for ages 4 and up, but we welcome families with younger children. Kids aged 3 and under are free to accompany a paying adult, and we find that even toddlers enjoy the sights and sounds of the farm. The tour involves standing and walking for most of the two hours, with some sitting during the farming talk and at the picnic site. Strollers are welcome, though the orchard paths can be bumpy, so a sturdy stroller or baby carrier is best for very young children.

Pricing is based on admission for everyone in the group age 3 to adult. That means every person aged 3 and older needs a ticket, and each ticket is $5.00. If you’re booking for a family, be sure to count all children aged 3 and up. For example, a family with two adults, a 5-year-old, and a 2-year-old would need three tickets total. The 2-year-old is free. This straightforward pricing helps us keep the tour accessible while covering the costs of staffing and materials.

Groups of all sizes are welcome, but we do cap each tour to ensure a quality experience. If you’re planning to bring a large group, such as a scout troop, homeschool co-op, or birthday party, we recommend booking early. You can purchase multiple tickets in a single transaction, and the confirmation email will list the total number of tickets purchased. If you have a group larger than 10, please arrive a few minutes earlier to allow for smooth check-in.

Please note that the tour is not a drop-off program. All children must be accompanied by a paying adult at all times. The farm is a working environment with equipment, uneven ground, and natural hazards, so close supervision is essential. Our staff will give a brief safety orientation at the start of the tour, and we ask that all guests follow their guidance throughout the visit.

What to Bring and What to Leave at Home

Dressing for the weather is the single most important thing you can do to enjoy your tour. The tour runs rain or shine, so check the forecast and come prepared. In September, temperatures can vary widely, so layers are your friend. A light jacket or sweater is often appreciated, especially in the late afternoon. Closed-toe shoes are strongly recommended, as the orchard floor can be damp, muddy, or covered with fallen apples. Sandals and flip-flops are not ideal for walking on uneven ground.

Here’s a quick checklist of items to bring:

  • Your order confirmation email (on phone or printed)
  • Comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes
  • Weather-appropriate clothing and layers
  • A reusable water bottle
  • Sunscreen and a hat for sunny days
  • A blanket or picnic mat if you plan to sit on the grass
  • Cash or credit card if you want to purchase apple picking or farm products
  • A camera or smartphone for photos

We ask that you leave pets at home. While we love animals, the farm is not a safe environment for dogs or other pets due to equipment, wildlife, and food safety regulations. Service animals are welcome, but please let us know at check-in so we can ensure a comfortable experience for everyone. Smoking and vaping are not permitted anywhere on the farm property, including the parking area and picnic site.

Outside food and non-alcoholic drinks are allowed at the picnic site, and many guests enjoy bringing a snack to enjoy after the tour. Please pack out everything you pack in, and use the trash and recycling bins provided. Alcohol is not permitted. If you’re planning to purchase apple picking, remember that the half peck bag is $20 and can be paid for on site. You’re welcome to bring your own bag, but the price remains the same, as the fee is for the apples, not the container.

After the Tour: U-Pick, Farm Store, and More

Once the formal tour ends at 5 pm, you’re welcome to linger at the picnic site or head over to the U-pick area if you’ve purchased apple picking. The U-pick orchard is a short walk from the tour route, and our staff will point you in the right direction. Apple availability varies by week, so we’ll let you know which varieties are ready to pick on the day of your visit. The half peck bag holds about 5-6 pounds of apples, which is plenty for a family to enjoy fresh or to use in baking.

If you’re interested in more structured farm experiences, we offer several other tours and events throughout the fall season. For example, our September 21, 10 am - 12 pm Fall Farm Tour covers similar ground but in the morning light, which some guests prefer for photography. We also have afternoon and evening options on other dates. Check the farm’s online store for the full schedule and to book additional visits.

Our farm store is open during tour hours and offers a selection of seasonal products, including fresh cider, honey, jams, and baked goods. These items are available for purchase on site, and many guests like to take home a taste of the farm. The store also carries a small selection of farm merchandise, such as hats and tote bags. Inventory changes frequently, so stop by and see what’s fresh.

Finally, we love seeing your photos and hearing about your experience. Tag us on social media or send us an email after your visit. Your feedback helps us improve the tour and plan future events. If you have questions before your visit, please refer to your confirmation email for contact information, or check the farm’s website for the latest updates on hours, weather, and apple availability.
