What to Expect on Your Fall Farm Tour
Your two-hour visit is designed to be a relaxed, informative, and family-friendly introduction to life on a working orchard. The tour begins promptly at your reserved time, so please arrive early enough to park and check in at the designated area. From there, one of our knowledgeable farm guides will lead your group through a short walk to the cider pressing station, where you will see how fresh apples are transformed into sweet, unfiltered cider. This is a hands-on demonstration, and guests are welcome to ask questions and, when invited, lend a hand with the press.
After the cider pressing, the group will settle in for a brief talk about apple farming in our region. You will learn about the varieties we grow, the seasonal rhythm of orchard work, and the sustainable practices we use to keep our trees healthy and productive. The talk is designed for all ages, with plenty of time for curiosity and conversation. Following the talk, you are free to enjoy the picnic site at your own pace until the end of your reservation window.
While apple picking is not included in the tour fee, many guests choose to add a half-peck bag of U-pick apples to their visit. You can purchase your bag on site with cash or credit card, and our staff will point you to the rows that are ready for picking on the day of your tour. Please note that U-pick availability varies with the season and weather, but our team will help you find the best fruit available.

Planning Your Visit: Timing, Parking, and Check-In
Your reservation is for a specific two-hour window, and we ask that all guests be parked and checked in at least 10 minutes before the start time. This allows us to begin the tour promptly and ensures that everyone gets the full experience. Late arrivals may not be able to join the group once the tour has moved to the orchard, so please plan your drive with extra time for traffic, especially on weekends.
Parking is included with your reservation and is located in our main gravel lot near the farm stand. Follow the signs for “Event Parking” and look for the check-in table with the Crosscut Farm banner. Have your order confirmation ready—either printed or on your phone—and our staff will verify your reservation and direct you to the meeting point. If you have any mobility concerns, please let us know at check-in; the tour route includes some uneven ground and grassy paths, but we will do our best to accommodate all guests.
Restrooms are available near the parking area, and we recommend wearing sturdy, closed-toe shoes and dressing for the weather. The tour runs rain or shine, so bring layers, a hat, and sunscreen as needed. Water bottles are welcome, and you may bring your own picnic blanket if you would like to spread out at the picnic site.
What’s Included and What’s Not
Your $5 per person reservation (ages 4 to adult) includes the cider pressing demonstration, the apple farming introduction, parking, and access to our picnic site for the duration of your two-hour window. Children 3 and under are free when accompanying a paying adult, but they must be supervised at all times. The tour is designed to be engaging for all ages, and we love seeing young people get excited about where their food comes from.

Apple picking is not included with your entry fee. If you would like to pick apples, you can purchase a half-peck bag on site for $20 (cash or credit card accepted). This bag holds roughly 5-6 pounds of apples, depending on the variety, and is a great way to take home a taste of the orchard. Please note that U-pick is subject to fruit availability and may be limited on some days. Our staff will let you know which varieties are ready and where to find them.
Food and beverages other than water are not included, but you are welcome to bring your own picnic. We ask that you pack out all trash and leave the picnic area as you found it. Alcohol and smoking are not permitted anywhere on the farm, including the parking lot and picnic site. Service animals are welcome; pets must remain at home for the safety and comfort of all guests.
