What to Expect on Your U-Pick Adventure
Our two-hour U-Pick experience is designed to give you a true taste of autumn in the orchard. From the moment you arrive, you'll be greeted by the scent of ripe apples and the crisp fall air. The session begins with a short introduction to apple farming, where one of our knowledgeable staff members will walk you through the lifecycle of our trees, the varieties we grow, and what makes our orchard unique. You'll learn about sustainable practices, the importance of pollinators, and how we care for our fruit from blossom to harvest.
After the introduction, you'll have the chance to watch an apple cider pressing demonstration. See how fresh apples are transformed into delicious cider right before your eyes, and ask questions about the process. Then, with your senses primed, you'll head out into the orchard to pick your own apples. Our staff will point you to the rows that are ready for picking and offer tips on how to choose the best fruit. The experience is self-guided from there, allowing you to wander at your own pace, fill your bag, and soak in the beauty of the farm.
Don't forget to bring your camera! The orchard in late September is a stunning backdrop for family photos, with rows of trees heavy with fruit and the mountains in the distance. We also encourage you to pack a picnic to enjoy at our designated picnic site after your picking session. It's the perfect way to end a day on the farm.

Planning Your Visit: What to Know Before You Go
To make the most of your U-Pick reservation, we recommend arriving at least 15 minutes early to park and check in. As stated in the product details, you must be parked and checked in 10 minutes prior to your reservation time. This ensures that we can start the group together and you don't miss any part of the introduction or demonstration. Our check-in area is located near the main barn, and you'll need to show your order confirmation number from Ecwid—no paper tickets are required.
Wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes suitable for walking on uneven ground and possibly damp grass. The orchard can be muddy after rain, so boots are a good idea. Dress in layers, as fall mornings can be chilly but warm up quickly once the sun is high. Sunscreen and hats are recommended, as much of the orchard is in full sun. We also suggest bringing water bottles, especially if you plan to pick for the full two hours.
If you have mobility concerns, please note that the orchard terrain is mostly flat but grassy, and some rows may have slight slopes. We do not have paved paths throughout the picking area. For accessibility questions, feel free to contact us ahead of time—we're happy to help you plan your visit.
Apple Varieties and Picking Tips
Depending on the timing of your visit, different apple varieties will be at their peak. Late September often brings us Honeycrisp, Gala, and early Fuji, but the exact selection can vary from week to week. When you arrive, our staff will tell you which rows are open for picking and which varieties are ready. We encourage you to taste as you go—sampling a few apples is part of the fun! Just remember to only pick what you intend to purchase, and be gentle with the trees.

Here are a few tips for picking the perfect apple:
- Look for fruit that is fully colored and firm to the touch. Avoid apples with soft spots or bruises.
- To pick, roll the apple upward off the branch rather than pulling straight down. This helps preserve the spur for next year's fruit.
- Place apples gently in your bag to avoid bruising. Don't overfill—apples at the bottom can get crushed.
- If you're unsure whether an apple is ripe, ask a staff member. They can show you how to check for ripeness.
Remember, apple picking is not included in your entry fee. You can purchase a half peck bag for $20 on site with cash or credit card. That bag holds roughly 5-6 pounds of apples, which is plenty for a family to enjoy fresh, bake into pies, or press into cider at home.
Family-Friendly Fun and Picnic Perks
Our U-Pick experience is designed with families in mind. Kids aged 3 and under are free to accompany a paying adult, making this an affordable outing for young families. The orchard is a wonderful place for children to learn where their food comes from and to experience the joy of picking their own fruit. We often see little ones delighting in finding the "perfect" apple and helping to carry the bag.
After your picking session, we invite you to relax at our picnic site. Tables are available on a first-come, first-served basis, and the setting is idyllic—surrounded by trees and open sky. Bring your own picnic lunch or snacks, and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere. Please remember to pack out everything you bring in, as we strive to keep the farm clean and beautiful for everyone.

If you're looking for more farm fun, consider booking one of our other fall experiences. We offer Fall Farm Tours on select dates, which include a guided walk and more in-depth look at our operations. You might also enjoy the October 1st U-pick and Demo session if you prefer a later date. Whichever you choose, we're confident you'll leave with a deeper appreciation for the hard work and beauty of orchard life.
